In 2010, MUSE CA and students at a school in Bangalore, India worked together on an exciting robotics challenge that helped to lay a strong foundation for future collaboration between the two schools.
By way of introduction, the schools first exchanged “artifact boxes” containing objects that represented each group. Then, connecting digitally, the students collaborated to build two remote-controlled robots that could be driven around a track and also push objects across the floor.
Thanks to this collaborative, hands-on, cross-cultural project, students on both continents gained valuable experience in engineering, physics, and technology, as well as integrating different ideas and perspectives into their work. The project also involved a wide range of outside experts, tapping a wide range of outside contributors from both school communities. (A dedicated website provides a visual representation of the participation scope and more detail about the project goals and results.)
Overall, the project was a huge success and served to strengthen the relationships between the schools, both of which anticipate working together on future projects.
World-famous educator, Sir Ken Robinson visited MUSE School this week. Sitting under the campus oaks, Sir Ken learned about the MUSE mission and vision. He talked with students and staff, and also had an extensive conversation with co-founder, Suzy Amis Cameron, about her dreams for MUSE’s future.
